Comparison of sliding gate operators

Road operators use a 230V power supply, and the accessories are wired using a universal system, i.e. the conventional electrical wiring is slightly more complicated wiring diagram. They have a built-in radio receiver, making them cost-effective. However, they offer only basic programming functions and have an average-performance motor, so we recommend them only for residential use with light-duty operation.

Robus RB operators The first-generation models offer far more extensive programming features are better equipped than the Road operators, and also have more reliable motors, even at low temperatures. They also use a 230V power supply, which is then converted to 24V, so Robus operators can also be powered by a solar panel or a backup battery. They use a more modern system for connecting accessories, based on the BlueBUS system, where each accessory is connected to the operator using just a two-core cable, with no need to observe polarity. They use an external radio receiver, which plugs into the control unit. You can also use an inductive limit switch. They allow two opposing gates to be connected to operate against each other. They are suitable for homes with several cars or for light industrial use.

Robus RBS operators are more modern than the RB models and differ in several ways. They feature a new control unit with an output for an OSE sensor and the option to add another module. The control unit can now be connected to both relay-type and BlueBUS photocells. RBS operators use an internal receiver, but an external radio receiver. This model supports smart control using the MyNice app. For this, it uses an optional interface for internet connectivity: BiDi-WIFI or BiDi-ZWave, which is not normally included. Like the RB, it uses a 230 V power supply, which is then converted to 24 V. It can still be powered by a solar panel, but the backup battery is now the new PSS124 model. The limit switch is now inductive, meaning that magnetic limit stops are fitted to the rack, and they also look more attractive. Another new feature is two LEDs, one green and one red, used for diagnostics. The Hi-Speed RBS600HS version can have integrated photocells. It can also be fitted with gate lighting, purchased separately as the ELMM. This is a more advanced version of the Robus operators, suitable for homes with several cars, business premises, light industry, and similar settings.

Operators in the Run family are essentially the same as Robus operators, except that they have a more robust housing and more powerful motors, making them suitable for more demanding industrial use as well.

In the event of a power outage, all operators can be released so the gate can be moved manually. All operators have a thermal cut-out. The load capacity of operators is stated in a format such as “operator for gates up to 400kg/7m”. First, these are maximum ratings: the operator can handle either a gate weighing 400kg or a gate 7m long. In other words, assume that one of these values should be at least half the stated maximum. For example, the operator can handle a 200kg-7m gate or a 400kg-3.5m gate. Second, we do not recommend running an operator at its maximum rating. Choose one with some capacity to spare to ensure long-term, trouble-free operation.
