Components for a curved sliding gate

If you don't have enough space to slide the gate sideways and don't want to, or can't, use a telescopic system, the most practical solution is a curved track gate made up of several sections connected by hinges. These sections form a train that slides along a curved track at a 90° angle, inward onto the property. This lets you elegantly cover the entrance with a sliding gate, even in places where you might think it's impossible.

The principle is very similar to that of a sectional garage door, only positioned sideways.

A curved sliding gate system can be built:

either on a track with a radius of 0.5 m in which case the gate will consist of sections no more than 75 cm long
or on a track with a radius of 1 m in which case the gate will consist of sections no more than 150 cm long

If you want to use a product kit, choose the radius and therefore the maximum section length, then buy a kit that includes the curved track, guide, end stops, and components for the first section with fixed wheels. Then purchase separately the components for each additional section with a swivel wheel and straight tracks.

The second option is to buy only the curved track and separate swivel wheels, and adapt the rest to suit your needs. Curved tracks can be joined to standard straight tracks.

Installation example:

A curved gate will cover a 5.5 m passage. Each section will be 1 m long, with 6 sections in total. For this gate you will need:

1 x curved track with a radius of 1 m
2 x 6 m standard straight tracks
7 x wheels - either 2 fixed + 5 swivel, or all 7 swivel wheels. The first gate section, with two wheels, does not swivel.
10 x hinges
1 x top guide

A curved sliding gate can of course also be fitted with a drive, but it must be installed where the train of sections has not yet started to bend. The toothed rack must also be adjusted so that the sections align neatly when the train is straight and move apart as it bends.
