Folding suspended gate for a hangar

Folding suspended gate system is a suitable solution for gates where it is necessary to make maximum use of the available space while ensuring that the gate’s opening mechanism does not extend beyond the entrance opening. Suitable for hangars, production halls and storage areas where wider entrance openings are required.

The advantage of this solution is that you do not need space to slide the gate aside. Folding suspended hangar gates open horizontally and fold to the side, freeing up valuable space in front of and behind the gate.

The gate’s sliding mechanism consists of a C-profile, a suspension trolley with a hinge at the top of the gate. The bottom guide increases stability, together with the bottom guide rail.. A double hinge connects the individual gate sections. A handle or a lever-action lock secures the gate against opening.

The materials’ high durability, along with quality hinges and bearings, ensures minimal maintenance.

To illustrate how many pieces are needed, consider a hangar with a 12m gate opening. The gate will consist of two sections—the right and the left. Each section will have 4 gate panels (4 infill sections), each 1.5m long.

A C-profile is installed along the full length at the top of the opening. The suspension trolley with a hinge is inserted into it and secured to a gate panel. You will need 4 trolleys: 2 for the right section and 2 for the left. The number of hinges depends on the height of the gate panels and whether there is a pedestrian door. However, remember that the trolley also includes a hinge.

Install the bottom guides in the same positions as the trolleys. The required number is the same: 4, with 2 for the right section and 2 for the left. Install one bottom stop at the centre of the gate, where the bottom guide comes to a stop. The bottom guide moves in the groove of the bottom guide rail. The bottom guide rail runs along the full length of the gate.

Install the handle or lever-action lock at a convenient height for operation. The lever-action lock with vertical rods is used together with the top rod and the bottom rod.. When the handle is pulled, the rods extend and secure the door. For our example, you will need 2: 1 for the right side and 1 for the left.

The components are available for a system with a 73 × 61 × 3.5 mm C-profile and a more robust system with a 95 × 86 × 5 mm C-profile.
