Comunello sliding gate motors
Drives by the Italian manufacturer Comunello strike a balance between design, quality and price. Their operating principle is simple: an aluminium housing contains a shaft fitted with bearings and a gear, with a pinion protruding from the end of the drive. The gearbox is connected via the pinion to a vertically mounted motor. When the drive is idle, the gate cannot be moved by hand. The motor is controlled by commands from a control unit housed under a plastic cover, which tells it to turn clockwise or counterclockwise. This causes the sliding gate to either close or open. A lever is clipped onto the front of the drive. In the event of a power failure, turning the key makes the lever pop out; pulling it out to a right-angle position disengages the motor from the shaft, allowing the gate to be operated manually.
