Applications for suspended gate components

The components provide a solution for suspended sliding gates. A sufficiently strong mounting surface (ceiling, wall, beam, etc.) is required to attach the mechanism.

Suspended gates

There may be several reasons to choose a suspended gate rather than one running on a track or a cantilever gate:

Uneven terrain
The need to avoid an obstacle in the form of a track
Installing the gate on sloping ground
Insufficient space to open a cantilever gate

Other applications for the suspension system

The suspension system can, of course, also be used for other structures. It is suitable wherever you need to move objects above the ground or floor:

Suspended doors, partitions, screens and sunshades — ideal wherever you want to save space compared with hinged opening and enjoy easy installation you can do yourself
Crane runways and handling equipment — this system can also be used as a simple conveyor system or crane runway for moving objects in a garage, warehouse or production facility

Suspension system components

A suspended structure consists of the following basic components:
Load-bearing components	- C-channel is anchored to the ceiling, beam or wall. - Suspension trolleys run inside the C-channel, with the suspended gate attached underneath. - C-channel brackets for anchoring the C-channel
Guiding components	- Guide rollers prevent the gate from moving sideways - Stops define the gate's end positions
Optional accessories	- Locks to secure the suspended gate - Handles for convenient manual operation

Attaching to the building structure

We offer mounting options for attaching the system to:

A horizontal surface or beam	A vertical surface or post

In both cases, the brackets can be fixed with screws, chemical and mechanical anchors, or by welding. However, it is important to ensure that the structural member you are anchoring to has sufficient load-bearing capacity for the expected gate weight. The same applies to the spacing between brackets; they should not be too far apart. This prevents the load-bearing C-channel from deflecting as the trolleys run along it.

To ensure smooth, stable travel, the suspended gate must be secured against sideways movement. We offer several types of guide rollers for this purpose. They can be used in different ways or combined as appropriate.

The bottom of the gate can be guided in one of two basic ways:

Guide rollers on both sides of the gate	Guide rollers fitted inside the channel

Choosing a C-channel and trolleys

For the suspension system to work correctly, choose a suitable C-channel size and matching trolleys. The gate's dimensions and weight are the key factors in making this choice. If the recommended spacing between C-channel brackets is maintained, the system's load capacity will be determined by the suspension trolleys, not the C-channel. Therefore, consider their layout and expected load in advance.

Use the following trolley load-capacity table to select the right trolley:

When using more than one trolley per gate, the load on each trolley does not always have to be reduced. The diagrams below show how the load is distributed when using two, three and four trolleys:

(The example clearly shows that the load on each trolley is higher when using three trolleys than when using two.)
