Description of Drive kit for sliding gates up to 400 kg/6 m NICE NKSL400 (C)
The compact Nice NKSL400 electromechanical gate operator is suitable for sliding gates weighing up to 400 kg or with a passage width of 6 m. The operator is supplied without covers, and is suitable for installation directly inside the gate post.
With its dimensions of 131x135x405mm it is suitable for concealed installation inside a post measuring 150x150x4mm and larger (see drawing).
Thanks to the built-in internal limit stops there is no need to install limit stops on the toothed rack. The stops are set very quickly with just one operating cycle while the gate is disengaged.
The operator can be disengaged from either side of the post, or remotely using the accessories NICE KIO and NICE KA1 as well.
The operator also includes a temperature sensor, and automatically adjusts the operating force to temperature changes—for example, it automatically increases the force at low temperatures.
The operator is supplied with a control unit NKA3R10 fitted directly inside the operator. Popular practical functions of the control unit:
- operation by remote controls via a radio receiver
- option to set automatic closing after a specified time or after the gate has been passed through the photocells
- inputs for wired opening, closing and step-by-step control
- 24 V DC output for additional devices
- programmable partial-opening distance for pedestrian access
- force and speed adjustment
- operator release in the event of a power failure
- option to connect two operators with automatic synchronisation for automating opposing sliding gates.
A backup power supply can be connected to the operator as an optional accessory: NICE PS124, which allows several operating cycles even during a power outage. There is enough space inside the operator housing to fit the backup power supply.
In principle, the control unit NKA3R10 is technologically very similar to the operator NICE Robus RB400.
The operator's pinion has module 4 for the toothed rack.

Post cut-out drawing:
Although it may look complicated at first, it is not too difficult: cut a 7 cm diameter hole in the front of the 150x150 box section for the pinion, plus four smaller holes for mounting the operator. Cut a square opening in the back for access to the operator and, optionally, holes in the sides to release it. Cover the cut-out in the back with a bent sheet-metal plate cut to the required size.
