Operator NICE Wingo WG2024 is designed to automate swing gates with a leaf length of up to 2 m and a weight of up to 400 kg 400 kg. The operator is non-reversible, and features a two-piece die-cast aluminium housing with a polyester coating that resists weathering. All internal moving parts are made of steel, light alloys and technopolymers. The drive screw is made of bronze for strength and quiet operation. The start capacitor is housed inside the operator to make installation as easy as possible. The operators are dimensionally backward-compatible with the previous Moby and Pluto ranges from Italian manufacturer NICE; all mounting dimensions and pin diameters are the same. The operator uses 24V, making it better suited to frequent use than the 230V version, but conversely it is not suitable for windy locations, especially with solid, opaque gate infill. However, it is not suitable for windy locations, especially with solid, opaque gate infill.

Control unit MCA2R30 in the control panel MC424LR30 allows easy programming, automatic detection of end positions, automatic fault diagnosis, adjustment of the pause time in automatic closing mode, pedestrian opening, deceleration before reaching the end positions, obstacle detection, and emergency operation when used with the PS124 backup power supply, an input for all types of operator safety edges, and much more.

The Wingo operators offer good value for money for automating swing gates in residential and light industrial settings. The entire Wingo range is reliable and quiet. Detailed technical specifications ». Download the manual ».

Choosing a gate opener – is the opener NICE Wingo WG2024 suitable for my gate?

NICE Wingo WG2024 operating limits

NICE Wingo WG2024 opener limits

Each gate has a leaf length (and therefore leverage) and weight (and therefore gravitational force acting on the lever), and every gate opener has its limits. The NICE Wingo WG2024 gate opener is suitable for gates with leaf lengths and weights within the limits shown in the image on the left. /1m to 200kg/ 2m/1m to 200kg/2m.

Example: Point B, with a leaf weight of 300kg and a leaf length of 1.5 m, is outside the permitted range and is therefore unsuitable. Choose a more powerful gate opener. Point A, with a leaf weight of 180kg and a leaf length of 1.7m, is within the limits. You can install it.

NICE Wingo WG2024 gate opener service life

In the table below, add the stress indices for leaf weight and length, then add the indices for any other applicable factors. Then use the graph to determine the gate opener's service life in number of cycles.

Example: I have a gate with a 3 m opening (two 1.5m leaves) and a weight of up to 100kg per leaf, including the frame and infill. I calculate the leaf-length index as approx. 20, plus a gate-weight index of 10. To be on the safe side, I also add an index of 10 for low temperatures, as we have harsh winters, giving me a total index of 40. The graph shows that the gate opener's service life is approximately 60,000 cycles. At 10 operating cycles per day, this corresponds to a service life of approximately 16 years.

I. Installing the rear mounting bracket

Diagram showing the NICE Wingo gate operator opening inward Diagram showing the NICE Wingo gate operator opening outward
Inward opening diagram Outward opening diagram

Calculate the position of the rear bracket using the graph, from which you can read the dimensions A and B and the maximum opening angle. Note that the values A and B must be similar (ideally identical) so that the gate operator can move smoothly in a straight line.

NICE Wingo WG2024 installation graph Illustrative example of calculating the NICE Wingo gate operator installation dimensions
Calculation graph  Example of reading values from the graph

Complete dimensions of the mounting bracket.

Calculation procedure:

  1. Measure the distance C from the diagram
  2. On the graph draw a horizontal line that intersects the measured value C
  3. The intersection of this line with the DIL (Recommended Installation Line) gives you the maximum opening angle
  4. If the maximum opening angle is unsuitable, you will need to adjust the value A and, if necessary, the value B, so that they are similar (ideally identical)

Before attaching the bracket to a post or wall, shorten it to the required length to match dimensions A and B and weld it to the mounting plate.

Cut the bracket to the required length Weld the shortened bracket to the mounting plate
1. Cut the bracket to the required length 2. Weld the shortened bracket to the mounting plate

The supplied package includes a 150 mm bracket. If you need a longer bracket for special situations, or need the gate to open outward, we recommend ordering the extended NICE PLA6 bracket.

Before attaching the rear bracket, check that the front bracket will be positioned on a solid part of the gate leaf, as there is a height difference between the front and rear brackets, as shown in the picture.

Difference F = 30 mm.

Height difference between the front and rear brackets

If everything is suitable, attach the rear bracket to the post or wall using screws, wall plugs and washers.

II. Installing the front mounting bracket

The front bracket must be fitted to the gate leaf at a distance determined by the values D and E, which you can read from the table (the value of D is fixed at 700 mm):

A 100 110 120 130 140 150 160 170 180 190 200 210 220 230
E 600 590 580 570 560 550 540 530 520 510 500 490 480 470

The supplied package includes a weld-on bracket. If you would prefer a screw-on bracket, we recommend ordering the alternative NICE PLA8 screw-on bracket.

  1. Calculate from the table the value E
  2. Calculate the height according to the diagram bracket heights (view image)
  3. Attach the bracket to the gate leaf (if welding the bracket, we recommend tack-welding it for now only)

III. Mounting the gate operator on the rear bracket

Mounting the NICE Wingo operator on the rear bracket
  1. Attach the motor to the bracket as shown in the diagram, using the supplied rear-bracket pin, washer and nut.
  2. Tighten the nut fully, then loosen it by 1/10 of a turn so that the gate operator can rotate

IV. Mounting the gate operator on the front bracket

Mounting the NICE Wingo operator on the front bracket
  1. Attach the operator to the bracket as shown in the diagram, using the supplied pin and washer.
  2. Tighten the pin fully

V. Setting the mechanical travel stop

If the internal mechanical travel stop, which the operator reaches when opening, is used, external ground stops are not required. Set it as follows:

Setting the mechanical travel stop on the NICE Wingo operator
  1. Release the operator according to the operator release instructions
  2. Loosen the mechanical stop screw
  3. Manually move the gate leaf to the desired open position
  4. Move the entire mechanical stop up to the pin and tighten the screw as shown in the diagram
  5. If both are fitted, repeat steps 2–4 for the front stop (opening stop) and the rear stop (closing stop). mechanical stop
  6. Manually move the gate leaf to the closed position and engage the operator
