Description of NICE Hyppo HY7005 – swing gate operator for a gate leaf up to 3 m / 800 kg
NICE HYPPO HY7005 – articulated-arm swing gate operator
NICE HYPPO HY7005 is a standalone electromechanical motor for one gate leaf. It has a 230 V AC, articulated arm and is non-reversible. It monitors the position of the gate leaf using opening and closing limit switches. It requires a separate control unit and safety accessories; in the event of a power failure, it can be released using a key.
Installation, wiring and safety testing must be carried out by a qualified technician. Disconnect the power supply and any backup supply before opening the motor or control unit. When operating the gate manually, secure the leaf to prevent unwanted movement.
When to choose this operator
HYPPO is suitable for swing gates with the articulated arm mounted on the inside. The choice depends on the length and weight of the gate leaf, resistance to movement, hinge position and the space available for the arm's full range of motion.
| Maximum gate leaf length | 3 m; the permitted weight decreases as the length increases. |
|---|---|
| Weight according to the graph | For a gate leaf of around 2 m the upper curve reaches approximately 800 kg. At 3 m the graph shows less than 400 kg. Assess the specific weight against the relevant curve and the gate conditions. |
| Duty cycle | 30% |
The 3 m and 800 kg limits do not apply at the same time. The limits apply to one motor and one gate leaf. The gate's height and shape, solid infill and strong winds can significantly reduce these values. The duty cycle percentage is not the number of cycles per hour or continuous operation.
The horizontal axis shows length in metres and the vertical axis shows weight in kilograms. For HY7005, use the operating range marked for this model.

FT210B are not suitable for MC800 or MC824H: they require different FT A / FT B / FT C addresses. Choose the compatible photocells listed above.
Standalone motor and control unit
The offer is for one HYPPO HY7005 motor with articulated arm. The standalone motor does not include a control unit. For a double-leaf gate, you need two matching motors; they do not increase the limit for a single leaf. Choose the control unit, photocells, warning light, receiver and remote controls to suit the setup.
| Setup | Control unit | Important difference |
|---|---|---|
| HY7005 | MC800 | 230 V AC, built-in limit switches. MC200 is an option for one motor. |
For an existing gate, follow the control board installed. The manual for the current MC800 does not apply to the old A60, and MC824HR30 procedures do not automatically apply to a different MC824H generation.
Installing the articulated-arm operator
Before installation
- The gate leaf must move smoothly by hand along its entire travel. Check the hinges, the strength of the gate leaf and the load capacity of the mounting points.
- Install solid mechanical stops for the open and closed positions to limit travel and allow the control unit to learn the positions.
- Leave enough clearance for the motor body, the arm's full range of movement and the release handle. Assess potential pinch and entrapment points and plan suitable safeguards.
- Fit the support plate to the post and the front bracket to the gate leaf. The installation dimensions and the strength of the mounting surface are decisive.
Installation dimensions A and B
Measure dimensions A and B as shown in the illustration. The table applies to the standard HY7005 articulated arm; it shows the opening angle for each specified pair of dimensions in millimetres.
| B | A = 110 mm | A = 130 mm | A = 150 mm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 90 mm | 85° | 98° | 104° |
| 110 mm | 91° | 97° | 103° |
| 150 mm | 110° | 120° | 115° |
| 200 mm | 105° | 110° | 115° |
| 250 mm | 105° | 110° | 110° |
| 300 mm | 100° | 105° | 105° |
| 350 mm | 95° | 100° | 96° |
The angle is determined by the geometry, not by an arbitrary control-unit setting. Before final fastening, disengage the motor and check the full travel of the gate leaf and arm. The stops must prevent movement beyond the safe operating area.
Extended arm HYA12
NICE HYA12 extended articulated arm provides greater reach. The illustration also defines dimension D. The maximum A/B/D values are installation limits, not recommended post dimensions. Do not automatically apply the standard-arm angle table to the HYA12.
| Dimension | Standard arm | HYA12 |
|---|---|---|
| Max. A | 150 mm | 400 mm |
| Max. B | 350 mm | 450 mm |
| Max. D | 450 mm | 800 mm |
Mounting the plate and bracket
- Determine whether installation is on the left or right when viewed from inside the property. The same model can be configured for either side by positioning the plate and assembling the arm accordingly.
- Fasten the support plate A to the solid post surface and the bracket B to the solid part of the gate leaf. Here, A/B refer to the parts, not the installation dimensions in the previous table.
- Bolt the motor to the plate. Correct minor alignment deviations using the slotted mounting holes.
- Assemble the arm for the selected side. Lubricate the screws as instructed in the installation manual before assembly, then fit the washers and fasteners.
- With the motor disengaged, manually move the gate leaf through its full travel to the stops; then fully tighten the fasteners.

Mechanism cover and protection
Once adjusted, fit the cover and release handle, then secure them with screws. Check the cable glands and make sure the cover is closed. Water must not enter the operator or control unit; keep cables clear of the arm and the moving gate leaf.
Manual release
- Stop the automation, disconnect the power supply and secure the gate leaf to prevent it from moving on its own.
- Slide the lock cover upwards. Insert the key and turn it clockwise.
- Turn the release handle as shown; the gate leaf can then be moved manually.
- Before operating automatically, return the mechanism to the locked position with the handle vertical. Check that the drive is engaged, remove the key and close the lock cover.
If you have no other access to the property, plan for access during installation: NICE KIO with KA1 cable allows manual release from the outside. Install and test the assembly before putting the gate into operation.
Wiring and electrical connections
Route and protect the mains cable, motor wires and low-voltage signal cables according to the voltage and environment. The supply to the control unit must include L, N and PE; protect it with suitable overcurrent protection and a device for complete disconnection. Secure the cables with cable glands and strain relief.
| Circuit | Cable | Application |
|---|---|---|
| Supply to control unit | 3 × 1.5 mm² | Up to 30 m; L, N and PE. For longer runs, use 3 × 2.5 mm² and protective earthing at the automation unit as specified in the control unit manual. |
| Motor | 4 × 1.5 mm² | Up to 10 m; open, common, close and protective PE. |
| BlueBUS | 2 × 0.5 mm² | Up to 20 m; for runs over 20 m and up to 40 m, use 2 × 1 mm². Non-polarised. |
| Warning light | 2 × 1.5 mm² | Up to 20 m; mains-powered FLASH. |
| Electric lock | 2 × 1 mm² | Up to 10 m; 12 V AC output / max. 15 VA. |
| Key switch | 4 × 0.5 mm² | Up to 50 m; alternatively, two 2 × 0.5 mm² cables. |
| Antenna | RG58 | Up to 20 m; less than 5 m is recommended. |
The installer must check the cross-section and route against the cable lengths and the manual for the installed control unit.
Connecting the motor and control unit
The HY7005 has a 230 V AC motor and built-in limit switches. The control-unit procedure below applies to the MC800 with an MCA5R30 board and OutSTB. For MC200 or the legacy A60, use the relevant manual. The older MCA5 board has different terminal markings and must not be confused with the MCA5R30.
| Left-hand motor | Terminal block Open / Common / Close (open / common / close). PE must be connected to a separate protective terminal. |
|---|---|
| Right-hand motor | Compared with the left-hand motor, swap Open and Close. Do not swap Common and PE. |
| Single leaf | For the MC800, use M2; leave M1 unused. |
| Two leaves | M2 opens first; M1 closes first. |
1 is the cable gland, 2 is the motor terminal block, 3 is protective earthing. The AC motor circuit does not have DC +/− polarity. Torque is adjusted at the control unit.
MC800 – accessory terminals and polarity
| 3 / 4 – power supply | 3 = 0 V (−), 4 = Common +24 V DC (+), combined max. 200 mA for auxiliary devices. |
|---|---|
| 5 / 3 – OutSTB | 5 = +24 V, 3 = −; switched power supply for relay photocells, max. 4 W. It is switched off in Standby. Do not confuse it with OGI on the older board. |
| 6 / 7 – BlueBUS | Power and data on two wires; non-polarised (+/−). |
| 1 / 2 – ELS | Electric lock 12 V AC, max. 15 VA; no DC polarity. |
| FLASH | Self-flashing warning light 230 V AC, max. 21 W; for example, ELAC. Do not connect the low-voltage ELDC here. |
| 4 / 13 – SbS | Voltage-free NO contact between Common 4 and SbS 13 for step-by-step control; the contact is non-polarised. |
| 4 / 14 and 4 / 15 | Voltage-free NO contact for opening (14) or closing (15). |
| 4 / 12 – STOP | Learned NO, NC, or 8.2 kΩ safety input; contacts are non-polarized. |
| 8–11 – AUX | Limit switches: 8 FCA1, 9 FCA2, 10 FCC1, 11 FCC2; LP off. Relay photocells: 8 PHOTO, 9 PHOTO1, 10 PHOTO2; 11 changes to STOP; LP on. These AUX functions are mutually exclusive. Unused AUX inputs remain unconnected. |
The diagram shows combined relay and BlueBUS wiring with Standby enabled. Power the relay TX/RX units from OutSTB as shown; for another mode, use the relevant control unit diagram. The HY7005 microswitches are built into the motor circuit. Do not run voltage-free contacts from the Open/Common/Close terminal block to AUX. AUX setting.
Setting the HY7005 limit switches
- Disconnect the power supply, release the motor and manually move the gate leaf to the closed position against the mechanical stop.
- Turn the relevant cam until you hear the microswitch click. Set the other cam with the gate leaf open, for the opposite direction.
- Return the handle to the vertical, locked position.
- During a controlled test, check the direction of travel, stopping, and contact with the stops. Disconnect the power supply again before adjusting the cams further.
- Disconnect the power supply again after the test. Only then tighten the cam fixing screws and fit the cover.
Mechanical stops are still required. Setting the cams in the motor is a separate operation from teaching the travel limits on the MC800.
Photocells and safety inputs
Position the photocells according to the gate leaf movement and the hazards posed by the gate. Align the TX/RX units correctly. Passageway protection does not replace protection at crushing points near the hinge and arm.
The MC800 supports both BlueBUS and relay photocells, including their combination according to the correct diagram. The AUX mode and TX/RX power supply must match the wiring and the Standby or photocell test setting. BlueBUS EPMB, EPLB, EPSB, EPMORB, EPMOB a F210B have two non-polarized wires. Each pair requires a correct, unique address.
Relay EPM, EPMOR or EPMA require the AUX setting for photocells with LP on. RX contact C–NC connects between Common 4 and 8 PHOTO / 9 PHOTO1 / 10 PHOTO2. Wire the TX/RX power supply and test connections according to the mode, including polarity 3− / 4+ and OutSTB 5+. On the EPM, both TX and RX have terminal 1 = + and 2 = − for DC power; RX has 4 = COM and 5 = NC. These terminal numbers do not automatically apply to another photocell model. Connecting the contact without power or configuration is not enough. Relay photocell procedure.
A system with an MC800 requires safety edges. The installer must specify their type and location so that the system passes the impact test under all operating conditions. Connecting the safety edge to the STOP safety input.
Test each pair during both opening and closing, the STOP function, and all fitted safety edges. Do not bypass a safety device to get the gate moving.
Initial start-up and learning
The installer should carry out these steps after the mechanical and electrical checks. Engage the motor in automatic mode, and check the stops, clear travel path, and M1/M2. Be ready to stop the gate during its first movement.
Set the HY7005 limit switches. Before teaching, check that the force setting on the MC800 is appropriate (Level II parameter L6). The HY7005 is electromechanical; the hydraulic motor pressure-holding function must not be activated for it.
After switching on the power, the BlueBUS LED should flash about once per second, the LEDs on connected BlueBUS photocell TX/RX units should flash, and the FLASH beacon should be off. If any check fails, disconnect the power supply and any backup supply, then check the wiring before proceeding.
1. Device recognition
- Press and hold both Open ▲ + Stop/Set.
- Release both buttons when L1/L2 start flashing rapidly, after about 3 seconds.
- Wait for the process to finish. Success: STOP is on, L1/L2 are off. L3/L4 may flash to indicate that position learning is required.
Repeat after adding or removing a BlueBUS/STOP device. Carry out the learning procedure even if no accessories are connected.
2. Automatic position learning
- Press and hold both Stop/Set + Close ▼.
- Release the buttons when L3/L4 start flashing rapidly, after about 3 seconds.
- Watch for: M1 closes, M2 closes, M2 opens, M1 opens, M1 closes and M2 closes; each gate leaf moves to its respective stop. With a single motor, only M2 moves.
- Success is confirmed when it goes out L3/L4.
If either motor opens instead of closing during the first closing movements, stop the learning process using the Open ▲ or Close ▼. Disconnect the power supply and any backup power, then correct the direction of the relevant motor by swapping Open and Close; leave Common and protective earth (PE) on their terminals. If the sequence is incorrect, correct M1/M2. Start the learning process again from the beginning. Activation of a photocell or STOP interrupts the process and L1 flashes; fix the cause and repeat the learning process.
3. Testing and handover
Test full opening and closing cycles, end stops, slowdowns, leaf overlap and manual release. Check each safety device, stopping and reversal when an obstacle is detected. The installer must measure the forces and assess the complete system. Do not set the force too high as a substitute for fixing a gate that is sticking. The user must be given the manual and shown how to release the drive safely.
Manual and mixed learning: detailed control unit procedure. Automatic learning must be performed before mixed learning.
Settings and remote controls
Set automatic closing, pause time, step-by-step operation, slowdown and force to suit the gate. Repeat the tests after changing the force or safety functions. Full ranges, LEDs and factory settings are listed in the control unit programming tables.
Receiver, remote control and antenna
The standalone motor does not have a built-in radio receiver. An SM receiver is fitted in the control unit. NICE OXIBD also supports two-way ON3EBD; OXILR use with ON3ELR. With the older OXI choose transmitters according to the stored coding. The same frequency alone does not guarantee compatibility.
Connect the coaxial cable according to the receiver: directly to the receiver for OXIBD, and as shown in the control unit wiring diagram for OXI. Pairing and deleting remote controls. Deleting the radio memory does not reset the control board or teach the travel limits.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| The gate does not move | Power supply, release mechanism engaged, and STOP circuit. A technician must troubleshoot power supply or fuse faults with the power disconnected. |
| The motor runs, but the leaf does not move | Check that the drive is engaged and the arm is secure; return the release mechanism to the locked position. |
| The gate stops or reverses | First check manual movement and the arm's operating area, then the photocells, STOP circuit and end stops. Do not increase the force without identifying the cause. |
| Learning does not complete | Motor sequence and direction, end stops and safety devices. For HY7005, also check the limit switch cams. |
| The remote control does not work, but the button does | Battery, coding, transmitter stored in the receiver, and antenna. |
| Fault after changing the photocells | Check addresses and cables, then repeat device recognition. |
Flasher and LED blink codes: diagnostics and troubleshooting. Record the settings before resetting. Resetting the control board, deleting the receiver memory and carrying out a new learning process are separate procedures; follow the manual for the installed unit.
Inspection and maintenance
Have the entire system checked at least every six months; in intensive use or demanding environments, have it checked more often according to the maintenance schedule. Check the hinges, fixings, arm play, end stops, release mechanism, cable glands and cables. Test the photocells and STOP circuit, and record the inspection.
Stay clear of the leaf's path and the articulated arm while the gate is moving. Do not let children play near the gate, and keep remote controls out of their reach. Keep the gate area clear. Clean the surfaces and photocell lenses without using harsh cleaning products. Do not rinse the motor with a pressure washer. Have a technician handle work on the mechanism, electrical circuits and safety settings. If the arm is damaged, the unit makes unusual noises or moves by itself, take the automation system out of service and arrange repairs.
