When to choose this operator

The HY7100 is designed for a folding-gate configuration with a telescopic arm. Before choosing, check the dimensions and weight of each section, the position of the vertical hinges, resistance to movement, folding clearance and motor mounting method.

Folding gate section lengthMaximum 1,500 mm per section, according to the installation diagram.
Weight and lengthThe maximum weight is 200 kg, but the permissible weight decreases as the length increases. At a length of 1.5 m, the curve is below 150 kg.
Duty cycle30%

1.5 m and 200 kg are not a permissible combination at the same time. In the graph, the horizontal axis shows section length in metres and the vertical axis shows weight in kilograms; the area above the curve marked “No” is not permissible. This value does not indicate the capacity of the entire gate opening or the combined weight of all sections. With a solid infill and wind exposure, the installer must assess the load on the entire gate. The duty-cycle percentage is not the number of opening cycles per hour.

How a folding gate works

In the configuration shown, one motor moves one folding pair of sections. The motor is mounted on the first section of the folding pair; the telescopic arm connects the mechanism to the second section. A gate with two folding halves requires two motors and a suitable shared control system. Do not confuse the number of sections with the number of motors.

HYPPO HY7100230 V AC; built-in opening and closing limit switches.MC800 / MCA5R30

The following wiring and initial setup instructions apply to MC800 / MCA5R30. For an existing automation system, always follow the manual for the control board actually installed. The motor voltage and the control unit's mains supply are separate circuits.

Older compatible control unit: For the original A60 or A6, follow the respective manual. The current MC800 replaces older control units; their wiring and programming must not be confused. For a single motor, the MC200, which uses a different accessory connection without BlueBUS.

Installing the telescopic operator

Installation, electrical wiring and safety testing must be carried out by a qualified technician. Before starting work, disconnect the mains and any backup power supply, and secure the gate sections against unintended movement.

  • Check the strength of both sections and the hinges. The entire folding pair must move smoothly by hand along its full travel, without sticking or excessive play.
  • Fit solid mechanical stops for the open and closed positions, suitable for the chosen configuration and control-unit setup.
  • Assess crush points at both the end and centre hinges, between the folding sections and around the telescopic arm. The positioning of safety devices must account for the gate's full range of movement.
  • The motor, arm, cables and manual release must not strike the frame, wall or other section. Mount them on a load-bearing part of the structure.

Folding section dimensions and mounting points

HY7100 and HY7124 – two sections, each up to 1,500 mm, and local mounting dimensions

Both marked sectionsEach up to 1,500 mm; this is not the permitted length of a single fixed gate leaf.
Dimension at the centre hinge on the motor sideMax. 200 mm, in the position shown in the drawing.
Dimension at the telescopic arm mounting pointMin. 150 mm, in the position shown in the illustration.

The values 200 and 150 mm refer to specific points in the drawing. They are neither the post cross-section nor a universal distance from the motor to the edge. During installation, follow the geometry shown for the telescopic arm and folding sections.

Mounting plate and telescopic arm

  1. Determine whether the installation is left-hand or right-hand when viewed from the inside. Assess the full movement of both sections before fixing them in place.
  2. The motor mounting plate A and the front bracket B should be positioned according to the folding gate drawing. Here, A/B identify the mounting parts, not the dimensions in the articulated arm table.
  3. Bolt the motor to the mounting plate. To suit the installation side, the plate can be rotated 180° as shown in the installation illustration.
  4. Assemble the telescopic arm with the washers and fasteners as shown in the drawing. Lubricate the screws before assembly, as instructed.
  5. With the motor released, manually test the full travel. Make minor alignment adjustments in the slotted holes, then fully tighten the fasteners.

Cover and cables

The cable run to the motor on the moving section must remain protected even when the gate is fully folded. Allow enough cable slack and provide strain relief; the cable must not catch on a hinge or arm. After completing the adjustments, fit the cover and handle, and check the cable glands.

HYPPO – fitting the cover and release handle

Manual release

  1. Stop the automation, disconnect the power supply, and secure the folding sections against unintended movement.
  2. Slide the lock cover upwards, insert the key, and turn it clockwise.
  3. Turn the handle as shown, then move the gate manually. Keep your hands away from the hinges and the gap between the folding sections.
  4. Before automatic operation, return the handle to the upright locked position, check that the drive is engaged, remove the key, and close the lock cover.

HYPPO – release using the key and turning the handle

If no other entrance is available, plan for external release during installation. NICE KIO with KA1 cable select according to the specific installation; test the entire assembly before handover.

Motor and control unit wiring

The HY7100 has a 230 V AC motor and built-in limit switches. The control unit procedure below applies to the MC800 with an MCA5R30 board and OutSTB. For the MC200 or legacy A60, use the relevant manual.

Left motorTerminal block Open / Common / Close (open / common / close). PE must be connected to a separate protective terminal.
Right motorCompared with the left motor, swap Open and Close. Do not swap Common and PE.
One folding leafFor the MC800, use M2; leave M1 unused.
Two folding leavesM2 opens first; M1 closes first.

8–11 – AUXLimit switches: 8 FCA1, 9 FCA2, 10 FCC1, 11 FCC2; LP off. Relay photocells: 8 PHOTO, 9 PHOTO1, 10 PHOTO2; 11 changes to STOP; LP on. These AUX functions are mutually exclusive. Unused AUX inputs should be left unconnected.

MC800 MCA5R30 – motor wiring diagram and accessory connection options

The diagram shows combined relay and BlueBUS wiring with Standby enabled. Power the relay TX/RX units from OutSTB as shown; for a different mode, use the relevant control unit diagram. The HY7100 microswitches are built into the motor circuit. Do not route voltage-free contacts from the Open/Common/Close terminal block to AUX. AUX configuration.

Adjusting the HY7100 limit switches

  1. Disconnect the power, release the motor and manually move the gate leaf to the closed position against the mechanical stop.
  2. Turn the appropriate cam until you hear the microswitch click. Set the second cam with the leaf open, for the opposite direction.
  3. Return the handle to the vertical, locked position.
  4. During a controlled test, check the direction of travel, stopping and seating against the stops. Disconnect the power again before adjusting the cams further.
  5. Disconnect the power again after the test. Only then tighten the cam fixing screws and fit the cover.

HY7100 – opening and closing cams and microswitches

Mechanical stops are still required. Adjusting the cams in the motor is a separate operation from teaching the travel limits on the MC800.

Photocells and safety inputs

Position the photocells according to the movement of the folding leaves and the gate hazards. Align the TX/RX units correctly. Protecting the passage does not replace protection at crushing points near the hinge and arm.

The MC800 supports BlueBUS and relay photocells, including a combination of the two, when wired according to the correct diagram. The AUX mode and TX/RX power supply must match the wiring and the Standby or photocell test settings. BlueBUS EPMB, EPLB, EPSB, EPMORB, EPMOB and F210B have two wires with no polarity. The TX and RX units of a pair must have the same jumper settings; the next pair must use a different address. The PHOTO 3 address is not permitted on the MC800.

Relay EPM, EPMOR or EPMA require the AUX setting for photocells with an illuminated LP. RX contact C–NC is connected between Common 4 and 8 PHOTO / 9 PHOTO1 / 10 PHOTO2. Connect the TX/RX power supply and test wiring according to the mode, including polarity 3− / 4+ and OutSTB 5+. With EPM, both TX and RX have terminal 1 = + and 2 = − for DC power; RX 4 = COM and 5 = NC. These numbers do not automatically apply to a different photocell model. Connecting the contact without power and configuration is not sufficient. Relay photocell procedure.

An installation with an MC800 requires sensitive safety edges. The installer must determine their type and position so that the installation passes the impact test under all operating conditions. Connecting the edge to the STOP safety input.

Test each pair during both opening and closing, as well as STOP and all installed sensitive edges. Do not disable a safety device by bridging it just to get the gate moving.

Initial startup and setup

The installer must perform these steps after the mechanical and electrical checks. Secure the motor in automatic mode, and check the stops, clear travel path, and M1/M2. Be ready to stop the gate during its first movement.

Set the HY7100 limit switches. Before setup, check that the force is suitable on the MC800, level II parameter L6. The HY7100 is electromechanical; the pressure-maintenance function for hydraulic motors must not be activated for it.

After power-up, BlueBUS must flash approximately once per second, the LEDs on connected BlueBUS TX/RX photocells must flash, and the FLASH beacon must be off. If any check fails, disconnect the power supply and any backup power source, then check the wiring before continuing.

1. Device recognition

  1. Press and hold Open ▲ + Stop/Set.
  2. Release both buttons when L1/L2 start flashing rapidly, after approximately 3 seconds.
  3. Wait for the process to finish. Success: STOP is lit and L1/L2 are off. L3/L4 may flash to indicate that position setup is required.

Repeat after adding or removing a BlueBUS/STOP device. Perform setup even when no accessories are connected.

MC800 – buttons and LEDs during device recognition

2. Automatic position setup

  1. Press and hold Stop/Set + Close ▼.
  2. Release the buttons when L3/L4 start flashing rapidly, after approximately 3 seconds.
  3. Watch for: M1 closes, M2 closes, M2 opens, M1 opens, then M1 and M2 close; each moves to its respective stop. With one motor, only M2 moves.
  4. Successful setup is confirmed when L3/L4.

If a motor opens instead of closing during the initial closing movements, stop setup using Open ▲ or Close ▼. Disconnect the power supply and any backup power source, then correct the direction of the relevant motor by swapping Open and Close; Common and protective earth (PE) must remain on their terminals. With two motors, correct M1/M2 if their sequence is wrong. Restart setup from the beginning. A photocell or STOP activation interrupts setup and L1 flashes; fix the cause and repeat setup.

3. Testing and handover

Test full opening and closing cycles, the stops, deceleration, synchronisation of the folding leaves, and manual release. Check every safety device, stopping, and reversal when an obstacle is encountered. The installer must measure the forces and assess the complete installation. Do not set the force too high to compensate for a gate that is sticking. The user must receive the manual and know how to release the drive safely.

Manual and combined setup: detailed control unit procedure. Combined setup must be preceded by automatic setup.

Settings and remote controls

Set automatic closing, pause time, step-by-step operation, deceleration, and force to suit the gate. Repeat the tests after changing the force or safety functions. The full ranges, LEDs, and factory settings are listed in the control unit programming tables.

Receiver, remote control, and antenna

The motor does not have a built-in radio receiver. An SM receiver is installed in the control unit. NICE OXIBD also supports bidirectional ON3EBD; OXILR use with ON3ELR. With the older OXI select transmitters according to the stored coding. The same frequency alone does not guarantee compatibility.

Connect the coaxial cable according to the receiver: directly to the receiver for OXIBD, and according to the control unit wiring diagram for OXI. Pairing and deleting remote controls. Erasing the radio memory does not reset the control board or set the gate positions.

Troubleshooting checks

SymptomWhat to check
The gate does not movePower supply, release mechanism secured, and STOP. A technician must troubleshoot power supply or fuse faults with the power disconnected.
The motor runs, but the leaf does not moveCheck that the drive is secured and the arm is fastened; return the release mechanism to the locked position.
The gate stops or reversesFirst check manual movement and the area around the arm, then check the photocells, STOP, and stops. Do not increase the force without identifying the cause.
Setup does not completeMotor sequence and direction, stops and safety devices. For the HY7100, also the limit-switch cams.
The remote control does not work, but the button doesBattery, coding, storing the transmitter in the receiver, and the antenna.
Fault after changing the photocellsCheck the addresses and cables, then repeat device recognition.

Beacon and LED flash counts: troubleshooting and repairs. Record the settings before resetting. Resetting the control board, clearing the receiver, and retraining are separate operations; follow the manual for the installed unit.

Inspection and maintenance

Have the entire automation system inspected at least every six months; inspect it more often if it is used intensively or operates in harsh conditions, in accordance with the maintenance schedule. The technician will check the end and intermediate hinges, motor mounting, telescopic arm, stops, cable routing, manual release, and all safety devices. The results will be recorded in the maintenance log.

Do not enter the space between the folding sections or the arm’s path while the gate is moving. Do not allow children to play near the gate, and keep the remote controls out of their reach. Users should only operate the safe manual release and clean accessible surfaces as part of routine maintenance; repairs, electrical work, and changes to safety settings must be carried out by a technician. If the gate malfunctions, take it out of service and secure it.
