The iQGSM-R4 GSM module is a new 4G/LTE GSM key for remotely controlling a gate by calling it from a mobile phone or using SMS commands.
No complicated setup, mobile app, USB cable, driver installation, or computer configuration is required. The device is suitable for customers looking for gate opening by mobile phone or a modern GSM module for gate control. The device can be used to control a garage door, driveway gate, barrier, blinds, boiler, pump, heating system, and other devices.
A physical nano-SIM card with an active VoLTE service is required for the device to work properly. The SIM card is not included with the device.
How does the iQGSM-R4 (4G/LTE) differ from older models?
Compared with older iQGSM GSM models (iQGSM-R1, R2, R3...), the iQGSM-R4 offers support for 4G/LTE networks in particular, use of a nanoSIM card with an active VoLTE service and an IN input for monitoring the gate status or a simple alarm function.
Why choose a 4G GSM module instead of 2G?
Older 2G GSM solutions use the 2G GSM bands 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and still work today, but they rely on older technology. The new iQGSM-R4 operates on a 4G/LTE network and uses VoLTE for call-based control. It is therefore a better choice for a new installation intended for long-term use, as it relies on more modern mobile infrastructure.
How does a GSM access key work?
When you approach the gate, call the iQGSM-R4 from your mobile phone and hang up. The GSM access key recognizes the saved phone number and carries out the command—it opens or closes the gate.
You can choose how the relay can be controlled:
- only by calling from saved phone numbers (high level of security)
- only by SMS commands (high level of security and unlimited users)
- by a combination of calls and SMS commands
- or even from any phone number (low level of security and unlimited users)
The mode for controlling the relay from any number is the least secure, as any number can trigger the command.
Number of users: depending on the version ordered: 10 / 100 / 1000 users
The 10-user capacity is usually more than sufficient for a typical family or small business.
The 100-user capacity is suitable for medium-sized businesses, guesthouses and organizations.
The 1,000-user capacity is ideal for larger businesses, apartment buildings for opening entrance doors, hotels, large resorts and organizations.

If you install the iQGSM-R4 in a metal enclosure or in a location with a weak GSM signal, we recommend purchasing an external antenna (ANT1, ANT2), while in a plastic enclosure, the signal can be boosted with an adhesive antenna. The GSM access key has very low current consumption and is powered directly from the gate drive (connect it to the 24 V terminals).

Wiring method for the gate drive
The iQGSM-R4 connects to a 10–30 V AC/DC power supply, and its voltage-free relay contact connects to the gate drive's control input, just like a wall button, key switch or external receiver. The exact input designation depends on the specific gate drive model. The IN input can be used to connect a voltage-free contact, such as a limit switch or magnetic switch, to monitor the gate status.
