Calculate the position of the rear bracket using the chart, which gives you the dimensions A and B and the maximum opening angle. Note that values A and B must be similar (ideally identical) to ensure the operator moves smoothly in a linear motion.

Calculation chart  Example of reading values from the chart

Calculation procedure:

  1. Measure the distance C from the diagram
  2. On the chart draw a horizontal line that intersects the measured value C
  3. The point where this line intersects the DIL (Recommended Installation Line) indicates the maximum opening angle
  4. If the intersection is below level t, you will need to adjust the values so that the intersection moves above this level
  5. If the intersection is above level t, everything is fine. However, if the specified maximum opening angle is unsuitable, you will need to adjust the value of A and, if necessary, the value of B, so that they are similar (ideally identical)

Before attaching the bracket to the post or wall, cut it to the required length to match dimensions A and B and weld it to the mounting plate.

Cut the bracket to the required length Weld the shortened bracket to the mounting plate
1. Cut the bracket to the required length 2. Weld the shortened bracket to the mounting plate

The package includes a 150 mm bracket. If you need a longer bracket for special situations, or if you need the gate to open outward, we recommend ordering the extended NICE PLA6 bracket.

Before attaching the rear bracket, check that the front bracket will fit on the fixed part of the gate leaf, as there is a height difference between the front and rear brackets, as shown in the image.

Difference F=44mm.

Height difference between the front and rear brackets

If everything fits, attach the rear bracket to the post or wall using screws, wall plugs and washers.

II. Installing the front mounting bracket

The front bracket must be fitted to the gate leaf at a distance determined by the values D and E, which you can find in the table (value D is fixed, namely 730 mm):

A 100 110 120 130 140 150 160 170 180 190 200 210
E 630 620 610 600 590 580 570 560 550 540 530 530

The supplied package includes a weld-on bracket. If you would prefer a bolt-on bracket, we recommend ordering the alternative NICE PLA8 bolt-on bracket.

  1. Calculate from the table the value E
  2. Calculate the height according to the image bracket heights (view image)
  3. Attach the bracket to the gate leaf (if welding the bracket, we recommend tack-welding it for now only)

III. Mounting the gate operator on the rear bracket

Mounting the NICE Toona operator on the rear bracket
  1. Attach the motor to the bracket as shown in the image, using the supplied rear-bracket pin, washer and nut.
  2. Tighten the nut fully, then loosen it by 1/10 of a turn so that the gate operator can rotate

IV. Mounting the gate operator on the front bracket

Mounting the NICE Toona operator on the front bracket
  1. Attach the operator to the bracket as shown in the image, using the supplied pin and washer.
  2. Tighten the pin fully

V. Adjusting the mechanical travel stop

If using the operator's internal mechanical travel stop, which the operator contacts when opening, external ground stops are not required. Adjust it as follows:

Adjusting the mechanical travel stop on the NICE Toona operator
  1. Release the operator according to the operator release instructions
  2. Loosen the mechanical stop screw
  3. Manually move the gate leaf to the desired open position
  4. Move the entire mechanical stop towards the pin and tighten the screw as shown in the image
  5. If there are two stops, repeat steps 2–4 for both the front stop (opening stop) and rear stop (closing stop) mechanical stop
  6. Manually move the gate leaf to the closed position and lock the operator
