Choosing trolleys for a cantilever gate
- The right choice of trolley again depends on the gate’s length and weight, but above all on the ratio between the clear opening width and the gate’s overhang.
- You cannot assume that the larger the gate, the heavier-duty the trolley needs to be; choosing the right one depends on several factors.
As a general guide, however, choose the trolley as follows:
- For a gate with a clear opening width of up to 2.8 m: Trolley with 3 bearing rollers
- For a gate with a clear opening width of up to 4.5 m: Trolley with 5 bearing rollers
- For a gate with a clear opening width of up to 6.5 m: Trolley with 8 bearing rollers
This classification applies generally to most situations. The trolleys and their bearings have a very high load capacity and are slightly over-spec'd for each set. Again, if you’re not sure which one to choose, write/call, and we’ll make a recommendation.
