Description of NICE PS224 – backup battery for the drive with integrated charging
Backup battery NICE PS224 is designed for automatic barriers from the NICE Signo range. The battery supplies the drive with the electrical power it needs to operate if the mains power supplying the drive fails. The battery is continuously recharged from the mains.
Installing the backup battery NICE PS224
1. Disconnect the drive’s power supply from the mains.
2. Connect the battery to the control unit.
The connection cable is not polarity-sensitive, but the connectors for connecting it to the control unit are polarity-sensitive, so connect them as indicated on the battery.
3. Check the connection of the NICE PS224 backup battery as follows:
Step 3.2 Connect the drive to the mains and check whether the LED L1 on the battery is lit. If so, the battery is charging successfully. Fully open and close the barrier (with the drive connected to the mains).
Step 3.3 Disconnect the drive from the mains and check whether the LED L2 on the battery is lit (as in Step 3.1). Then fully open and close the barrier (with the drive disconnected from the mains and powered only by the battery) to verify that the drive operates correctly on battery power alone.
Note: The speed of the drive when powered only by the backup battery may be lower, even if the control unit is programmed for a higher speed.
4. Reconnect the drive to the mains
Done, everything should be working correctly. In the event of a power failure, you should still be able to open and close the barrier successfully.
