Magnetic metal detector for DIN rail mounting with relay output. Suitable for barrier access control, gate and door controls, parking, and traffic systems.
The loop is the detector’s sensing element; it is essentially an induction coil connected to a capacitor that is part of the detector’s electrical circuit, together forming an LC oscillator. The resonant frequency of this circuit depends on the loop’s inductance. When a vehicle passes over the loop, its metal parts (bodywork, wheels, suspension) change the inductance and, as a result, the oscillator frequency. The detector monitors this frequency and switches the relay when the change exceeds the threshold set according to the selected sensitivity.
This can be used, for example, to:
- fully automate a gate or barrier, opening it when a car is detected
- control traffic lights that change colour when cars are detected
- count cars in parking spaces, tracking arrivals and departures
You will also need to purchase the appropriate amount of insulated copper wire for the inductive detector. A standard loop requires approximately 60 metres of cable with a cross-section of 1.5 mm². To seal the cable into the road, use either cold concrete or sealant/silicone. The magnetic detector replaces the older LP1 version..
