Description of License plate recognition camera
Open the gate or raise the barrier only for vehicles with an authorised registration number (number plate). As a vehicle approaches the gate or barrier, a high-resolution camera recognises its registration number, then compares it with the database and issues a command accordingly.
Install the high-resolution outdoor camera by the entrance. Use the swivel joint to point it towards approaching vehicles, connect it to a router or computer via an Ethernet cable, and to the device you want to control via a two-core cable (gate operator, barrier, etc.). Use the software to add vehicle registration numbers to the database (and add or delete them at any time). The gate or barrier will open automatically when a vehicle with a listed number arrives. Other vehicles will not be allowed in.
Number plate recognition system is particularly suitable for sites with a large number of vehicles (apartment buildings, companies, rental properties), but also sites with a smaller number of vehicles that change frequently (hotels, guesthouses). Of course, there's nothing stopping you from installing the camera at home for a single car :)
The camera is suitable for reading number plates in slow-moving traffic. The camera can read number plates at speeds of up to 30km/h. It is designed for outdoor use. It has a memory card slot, so in theory it can also operate without a router or computer connection (the list of number plates is stored on the card). The camera is supplied with a software application that uses the camera's own processing power. This means you don't need a server, and data transfer is reduced to just a few kB.
The camera is powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet), which means you connect the PoE adapter to a power supply, then connect a "non-powered" Ethernet cable at one end to a computer, which is used for communication only, or to a router, and connect a "powered" Ethernet cable at the other end to the camera, which carries communications from the router or computer, along with power for the camera.
How it works
In principle, the camera is just an image sensor. It sends the captured image to its built-in software, which uses image recognition technology to extract a string of characters—the vehicle registration number—from it and simply generates a "number plate read" event. In the software settings, you can configure what should happen next, i.e. you can choose to do nothing and simply log the vehicle's visit, or set up other responses to the event, such as checking the database to confirm that the registration number is authorised for entry, then activating the relay output.. Connect this relay output to the gate operator or barrier at the same input used for a wired push button, video intercom, external receiver, GSM module, etc. Every gate operator has this input.
The camera is sold as a KIT: Camera + PoE adapter + ERM1 relay
