Simplified procedure for connecting and starting the NICE Spinbus gate operator
If you don’t want to read the entire manual for Spinbus operators, you can get a NICE Spinbus operator up and running in just a few minutes using this simplified wiring and setup procedure.
We assume the garage door moves up and down manually, the belt is correctly tensioned, and the end stops are securely tightened.
In other words, if the trolley in the guide rail is disengaged, you can move the door by hand.
The easiest way is to get the operator itself running without any accessories, which you can connect one by one later. You can also connect the accessories right away; it doesn’t matter when you do it, and you can always connect or disconnect anything later. You can always reset the operator to its factory settings.
Getting the operator running
Note: this procedure applies to the NICE SNA2R10 control unit. If you have a NICE SNA2 control unit, the procedure for getting it running is slightly different.
- Plug the operator into a power outlet.
- With the factory settings (or after a reset), the BlueBUS and L1+L2 LEDs on the control unit should be flashing.
- Detect the connected devices: Press and hold the OPEN+STOP/SET buttons simultaneously (the first and second buttons). When the L1+L2 LEDs start flashing faster (approx. 3–4 seconds), release the buttons. The L1+L2 LEDs will continue flashing for a short while, then stop, and L3+L4 will start flashing.
- Detect the door travel: Press and hold the STOP/SET+CLOSE buttons together. When L3+L4 start flashing faster and the door moves, release the buttons. The operator will close the door, open it, and then close it again, leaving the door closed. The light on the operator will start flashing.
- Detect the forces required to move the door: Pull and release the cord on the operator that activates the mini switch on the control unit. The operator will now run the door up and down four times, automatically learn the required forces, and finally the light on the operator will remain on for a short while before going out.
- You should now be able to open and close the door using the OPEN, STOP/SET, and CLOSE buttons. The OPEN button opens the door, the CLOSE button closes it, and the STOP/SET button stops it.
- Congratulations—you’ve successfully got your NICE Spinbus garage door operator up and running!
Pairing a remote control
In this step, you’ll save the remote control to memory so that pressing its button repeatedly will open, stop, close, stop, open the door, and so on.
- You have 10 seconds for each step.
- Press the pairing button on the receiver once without holding it down. The receiver’s LED will then flash at one-second intervals.
- Now follow the instructions for your remote type:
- Two-way (e.g. ON3EBD): Press and release a button on the remote control. It will vibrate gently and light up green.
- One-way (other models): Press and hold a button on the remote control. When the LED on the operator flashes three long times, release the button.
- Wait for the LED to finish flashing, and you’re done.
That’s it—you’re all set and can start using the operator.
