Description of Square anchor spike

Drive-in anchor post base with square socket and spike is used to anchor driven square posts,, beams, or pillars in clay soil. This keeps the wood out of contact with damp soil, significantly reducing moisture absorption.

A timber structure or wooden fence can therefore be built without additional costs for excavation and concreting, and the timber structure can also be dismantled at any time and moved to another location.

For round posts, you can use the round anchor spike.

Visualization of a square-socket anchor spike used with round posts. The anchor post base with round socket and spike is used to anchor driven round posts or pillars in clay soil. This keeps the wood out of contact with damp soil, significantly reducing moisture absorption. A timber structure or wooden fence can therefore be built without additional costs for excavation and concreting, and the timber structure can also be dismantled at any time and moved to another location.

Installing anchor post bases with spikes and square sockets – drive-in anchors

  1. Ideally, check the soil hardness by driving in a thick rebar rod or bar. The soil should not be waterlogged and should not have a high clay or sand content.
  2. Before driving in the anchor spike you can drill small pilot holes to make driving it in easier and to keep it stable vertically.
  3. Drive in the spikes using a small wooden block; otherwise, the metal profile may become deformed.
  4. After installing the anchor spike and block, secure the wood through the mounting holes using a bolt or threaded rod.
