Simplified procedure for wiring and starting the MC424LR10 control unit (with MCA2R10)

If you don’t feel like reading the entire manual for the NICE Wingo gate operator with the MC424LR10 control unit (with MCA2R10), you can get the operator running in just a few minutes by following this simplified procedure.

We assume that the swing gate can be opened and closed manually and, of course, that its movement is limited by stops at the end positions—see Limiting swing-gate movement with stops.

The easiest way is to get the motors running with the control unit, without any accessories, and connect the accessories one by one later. But you can connect the accessories right away if you like; it doesn’t matter when you do it—you can connect or disconnect anything at any time. You can always reset the operator to its factory settings.

Step 0. Wiring

Power supply cable
Terminal L – live wire from the power supply cable
Terminal N – neutral wire from the power supply cable
Terminal marked with the earth symbol – earth wire from the power supply cable

Motors
First, identify which motor is the primary motor and which is the secondary motor. The primary motor is the one that closes first.
For outward opening, reverse the polarity (positive and negative) on both motors. If you have only one motor, connect it to M2.

Warning light
Connect the two-core cable from the warning light, from the terminal marked with the bulb symbol, to terminals 1–2 on the control unit. If you are not installing a warning light, leave terminals 1–2 unconnected.

Antenna
The control unit comes with a temporary antenna wire connected to the far-right terminal, marked with an antenna symbol. If you have a warning light, you can disconnect this wire and connect the antenna from the warning light in its place.

Photocells
The control unit comes with yellow jumpers between terminals 8–9, 9–11 and 10–11.
If the gate opens inward and the photocells are on the outside, remove the yellow jumper between terminals 10–11, leaving only the jumpers between 8–9 and 9–11.

For other setups (more photocells, photocells on the inside, outward opening), see more Connecting photocells to the NICE MC424L control unit. Otherwise, connect as follows:

  • From terminal 6 on the control unit to terminal 2 on both photocells.
  • From terminal 7 on the control unit to terminal 1 on both photocells.
  • From terminal 8 on the control unit to terminal 4 on the RX photocell.
  • From terminal 10 on the control unit to terminal 5 on the RX photocell.

Step 1. How to get the operators running

  1. Disconnect the control unit from the power supply. The easiest way is to remove the power fuse next to the power supply cable.
  2. Set the operator model selector to your operator model.
    Operator model DIP switch settings
General all down, switch 1 up
WG2024 all down, switch 2 up
WG3524 first two up, last two down
WG4024 all down, switch 3 up
    WG5024 switches 1 and 3 up, switches 2 and 4 down
    TOO3024 switches 1 and 4 down, switches 2 and 3 up
TOO4524 all up, switch 4 down
    SFAB2024 (XME2024) all down, switch 4 up
  3. Release both motors, move them manually to approximately halfway so the gate is neither open nor closed, lock the motors, then move the leaves slightly so the gearboxes engage.
  4. Reconnect the control unit to the power supply.
  5. Run the gate-leaf travel learning procedure – On the control unit, press and hold the second (STOP/SET) and third (CLOSE) buttons at the same time, and release them when the leaves start moving. Release them when the leaves start moving.
  6. The leaves will perform the following sequence (travel learning can be interrupted at any time by pressing the STOP button):
    1. Both leaves open slightly.
Note: If they move in the opposite direction—that is, close slightly—interrupt the cycle by pressing STOP, disconnect the control unit from the power supply, and reverse the polarity on both motors. If one leaf starts opening and the other starts closing, reverse the polarity only on the motor that started closing. Reversing the polarity means swapping the wires between the + (positive) and – (negative) terminals in that motor’s three-terminal block.
    2. The lower leaf closes completely.
Note: If the wrong leaf starts moving (that is, the upper leaf), interrupt the cycle by pressing STOP, disconnect the control unit from the power supply, and swap the complete M1 and M2 motor terminal blocks.
    3. The upper leaf closes completely.
    4. The upper leaf starts opening, followed shortly by the lower leaf.
Note: If the delay is insufficient, you can change it in the programming settings; see section 5.2.2, LED L6 “Leaf delay”.
    5. Both leaves open completely.
    6. The lower leaf starts closing, followed shortly by the upper leaf.
    7. The leaves close completely and the control unit saves their end positions to memory.
  7. Done.
