Pairing a remote control with a single drive unit
If you want to use the remote to operate just one drive, you can save all the buttons to the drive in one go. You can also use this procedure for multiple drives at different locations (or locations that are farther apart than the range of the remote control). If you want to operate multiple drives in one location (within range of the remote control), it is better to pair the remote control with multiple drives.
How the buttons on the remote work depends on the control unit model, but for the vast majority of drives, they function as follows:
| first button | step-by-step operation (use one button to open, close, and stop) |
| second button | partial opening (pedestrian access) |
| third button | open and stop only |
| fourth button | close and stop only |
Make sure you have the remote control with you, have removed the cover from the motor or control unit, and know which button is used for pairing and which LED is associated with it.
The pairing button is:
- either the button on the receiver plugged into the control unit, with an LED next to it,
- or a button on the control unit itself marked with a remote-control icon, plus an R LED,
- or the RADIO button, with an LED next to it.
If you are not sure exactly which button and LED these are, see the procedure for identifying the pairing button and pairing LED.
There are two procedures, for remotes:
- with one-way communication - classic NICE remotes, Flor-s, Era Flor, Era One, Era Inti.
- with two-way communication - only Era One BD (ON3EBD) and Era One LR (ON3ELR)
Procedure for pairing a remote with a drive (all remotes with one-way communication):
- Press and hold the pairing button. When the pairing LED lights up, release the button.
- The pairing LED will stay lit for 10 seconds. During these ten seconds, press and hold any button on the remote, and release it when the pairing LED flashes three times.
- The pairing LED will light up again. You can either press and hold another remote control as described in step 2, or wait for the LED to go out; then you are done.
- Test the remote control.
For remotes with two-way communication, the procedure is the same, except that in step 2 you press the button just once without holding it. The remote will then vibrate and light up green. Full procedure:
Procedure for pairing a remote with a drive (two-way communication remotes only)
- Press and hold the pairing button. When the pairing LED lights up, release the button.
- The pairing LED will stay lit for 10 seconds. During these ten seconds, press any button on the remote once without holding it. The remote will then vibrate and light up green.
- The pairing LED will light up again. You can either press another remote control as described in step 2, or wait for the LED to go out; then you are done.
- Test the remote control.
You cannot save a two-way remote to a one-way receiver. First, switch the button on the two-way remote to one-way mode, then save it.
