Control your gate from your car using the built-in Homelink button
If you have a vehicle with a built-in remote control Homelink and would like to use this button to control your gate, you're in the right place. Homelink is the most common manufacturer of in-car remote controls. Devices from this company are used mainly by Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, but you can also find them in Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Porsche, Renault, Toyota, Volvo and other brands.
Your existing remotes probably use a rolling code, but unfortunately they are not compatible with Homelink, since Homelink supports older fixed-code encoding from NICE . So you would need to
- Buy an older external receiver with a fixed code NICE FLOX2 and a fixed-code remote control NICE FLO2, or NICE FLO4.
- Connect this external receiver to your gate operator (power supply + relay to the same input as the wired button).
- Set the same combination of DIP switches on both the receiver and the remote control.
- Pair the remote control with the car according to the car's manual.
And that's it—you can now operate the gate using the button in your car!
Note: You can then put the remote control in a drawer in case it gets erased from the car, or you buy a newer one :)
