Connecting photocells to a NICE Robus or Run operator
Robus/Run operators use BlueBUS technology, so they are compatible only with photocells that support this technology.
Photocells always come in pairs: a TX transmitter and an RX receiver. Photocells are divided into three types:
- Both photocells are wired (TX transmitter and RX receiver). The most commonly used models are EPMB and EPSB, followed by EPLB and F210B, and, where applicable, the old MOFB models, which are no longer available.
- One photocell wired, the other battery-powered and wireless. FT210B model.
- Both photocells are wireless. EPMOW model paired with the IBW device.
Before connecting the photocells, disconnect the operator from the power supply. Once they are connected, restore the power and identify the connected devices by holding down the OPEN+STOP/SET buttons until LEDs L1+L2 start flashing, then release them.
The entire BlueBUS system is wired using two-core cables. The cable should be 2x0.5 m2. If you use network cables (FTP, UTP, STP, or any other twisted pair) for the connection, the cross-sectional area of each conductor is generally between 0.10 and 0.25 mm2. We therefore recommend doubling the wiring: use four conductors instead of two, in two pairs. Otherwise, you may get continuity on the cable and the photocell may flash, but still malfunction.
Wiring wired photocells
Photocells are connected in parallel to the BlueBUS input using two-core cables; there is no need to worry about polarity. You can connect both photocells directly to the control unit, or run a two-core cable from the control unit to one photocell and then another two-core cable from there to the second.

Wiring one wired and one wireless photocell
In practice, this only involves NICE FT210B photocells. One photocell is connected using a two-core cable from the BlueBUS terminal on the control unit to the BUS (BlueBUS) terminal; the other is battery-powered.
Wiring wireless photocells
The truth is, wireless photocells are not wired, since they are wireless. Only the IBW communicator is connected; the photocells communicate with it wirelessly. For the connection procedure, continue to Connecting and programming the NICE IBW device with NICE EPMOW photocells.
